John Lithgow will reprise his solo show John Lithgow: Stories By Heart at Lincoln Center Theater’s Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater this spring. The show will play on Sunday and Monday nights for 14 performances beginning April 12, “dark” nights for the theater’s current attraction, Happiness. The final performance will be on May 25.
Lithgow, who appeared on Broadway earlier this season in All My Sons, first performed Stories By Heart at the Newhouse in April 2008, directed by Jack O’Brien. The piece traces his history as an actor and storyteller, culminating in a performance of the P.G. Wodehouse story “Uncle Fred Flits By,” a 40-minute comic monologue in which he portrays nine distinct, outrageous characters.
In addition to All My Sons, Lithgow’s Broadway credits include Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, The Retreat From Moscow, Tony Award-winning performances in Sweet Smell of Success and The Changing Room, Requiem for a Heavyweight, Anna Christie and M. Butterfly.
